New NAHQ Volunteer Role – Address Ethics in Healthcare Quality

By admin • In NewsNo Comments

A recent legal case involving two Texas nurses who acted as whistle-blowers in a questionable quality situation at their organization had NAHQ members talking. Who was protecting these nurses/quality professionals? Whose job is it to ensure that quality professionals who speak up are protected against legal action?

As these questions were pondered, leaders saw an opportunity for NAHQ to address these issues and bring a voice to the professional dilemmas that face healthcare quality professionals. The case in Texas is just one example. We would like to identify other such issues, recognize the internal and external factors that are at the root of creating professional dilemmas, and explore NAHQ’s role in leading a national discussion regarding how such concerns are being addressed. NAHQ members like you are vital to achieving this goal!

Please consider volunteering on the new Healthcare Quality Professional Dilemmas task team. We are seeking two members to fill openings on this new team.

Requirements:

  • A passion for the role of the healthcare quality professional
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • An ability and willingness to speak and represent NAHQ in public on these topics

Visit the Quality Volunteer Board at NAHQPlus, the members-only section of the NAHQ website, to learn more about the time commitment and responsibilities for this new task team.  Please submit your application via the Quality Volunteer Board by Friday, July 16. You will be contacted by a NAHQ board member by Friday, July 23 to follow-up on your application. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with NAHQ!
